Sure to be a tasty event you wont want to miss! Slurpz has partnered with the Town of Wellington to bring our next competition to the Wellington Community Park again this year for our first annual pie, ice cream, and preserving competition 4th of July 2025!

Do you like baking pies? Making homemade ice cream? Pickling pickles or other odd things? Making jams and/or jellies? Producing honey at home?

Or, do you just like to INDULGE in these yummy things? If you answered YES to any of these questions than this is an event you won't want to miss!

Competition categories-Please read the rules/directions care

PIE

1. Each pie entered into the competition must include a recipe with a complete list of ingredients.
2. Pies must be from scratch. Bakers may NOT use store bought crust or pie filling.
3. There are 6 entry categories: Kid Fruit (e.g. berry, apple, cherry, etc.) Kid Other (e.g. pecan, pumpkin, lemon, etc.) Amateur Fruit (e.g. berry, apple, cherry, etc.) Amateur Other (e.g. pecan, pumpkin, lemon, etc.) and Professional fruit (We consider anyone a professional baker who works for a company that does baking, bakes pies to sell to the public, a restaurant etc.). Professional Other. Contestants may enter one pie in each appropriate category.
4. TWO pies are required for each entry. One to be sampled by the judges and used for the pie eating contest, and the other to be auctioned/sold off to benefit the Sweet Destinee Foundation.
5. Each pie entered must be 9"in size and in a disposable foil pan. No pans or equipment will be returned.

Each contestant must have reserved a spot in the competition by calling Slurpz (970) 889-6024 no later than July 3rd, 2025 at 2:00p.m. All pies entered become the property of Slurpz and will be used for the pie eating contest as well as raffled off to raise funds for the Sweet Destinee Foundation.

Pickled

1. Each quart sized jar entered into the competition must include a copy of your recipe along with a complete list of ingredients.
2. Entrants recipe must be prepared by themselves.
3. There are two entry categories: Pickles and Other Pickled (e.g. beans, okra, garlic, etc.). Contestants may enter one entry in each category.
4.TWO Jars are required for each entry. One to be sampled by the judges and the other to be auctioned/sold off to benefit the Sweet Destinee Foundation; Slurpz family nonprofit.
5. Each contestant must have reserved a spot in the competition by calling Slurpz (970) 889-6024 no later than July 3rd, 2025 at 2:00p.m. All entries become the property of Slurpz and will be used for judging as well as raffled off to raise funds for the Sweet Destinee Foundation.

Jams & jellies

1. Each 1/2 pint sized jar of Jam or Jelly entered into the competition must include a recipe page with a complete list of ingredients.
2. Jams and Jellies must be made from scratch and by the entrant.
3. There are two entry categories: Jams and Jelly. Contestants may enter one 1/2 pint sized jar in each category.
4.TWO jars are required for EACH entry. One to be sampled by the judges and the other to be auctioned/sold off to benefit the Sweet Destinee Foundation; Slurpz family nonprofit.

honey

2. Honey must be made from scratch and by an amateur.
3. There are TWO entry categories: Amateur Honey and Professional Honey (We consider a professional to be someone who sells their honey to make a profit, for a business, etc.).
4. TWO jars are required for each entry. One to be sampled by the judges and the other to be auctioned/sold off to benefit the Sweet Destinee Foundation; Slurpx family nonprofit.
5. Each contestant must have reserved a spot in the competition by calling Slurpz (970) 889-6024 no later than July 3rd, 2025 at 2:00p.m. All entries become the property of Slurpz and will be used for judging as well as raffled off to raise funds for the Sweet Destinee Foundation.

Join us after the pie judging is over and watch locals dive fork and hands free into these delicious pies! First one to finish is the winner. Its that simple. Call today (970) 889-6024 to reserve your spot as spaces are extremely limited! There will be both a kids contest and an adult contest!
